Job Description

Oak Street Health is a pioneering healthcare organization dedicated to providing personalized primary care services to older adults on Medicare. With a mission to 'Rebuild healthcare as it should be,' Oak Street Health focuses on keeping patients healthy and improving their quality of life through an innovative, value-based care model. The company operates over 150 care centers nationwide, emphasizing community-centered care, clinical excellence, and patient-centered services rather than volume of services. Oak Street Health is known for cultivating a compassionate and collaborative work environment where team members embody the organization's core values, known as being 'Oaky.' These values highlight empathy, accountability, and a commitment to delivering unmatched patient experiences.

The role of Medical Scribe - Bilingual Spanish Required (Full-time in Primary Care Setting) at Oak Street Health, located at 4405 Broadway, New York, NY, offers a unique opportunity to be an integral part of the patient care journey. This position supports primary care providers with clinical documentation, allowing providers to focus on delivering exceptional healthcare. Medical Scribes, referred to as Clinic Informatics Specialists (CIS), are not only responsible for documenting patient encounters in real time but also for enhancing clinical documentation by leveraging knowledge of value-based care, ICD-10 and CPT coding, and chronic condition management.

Medical Scribes join providers in exam rooms to observe and accurately document patient visits including histories, assessments, plans, and physical exams. They prepare after-visit summaries, support clinical documentation improvement through record reviews and daily huddles, and assist with administrative tasks such as placing orders and managing referrals. This role is ideal for individuals on a pre-med track seeking paid clinical experience or those pursuing careers in health informatics, public health, healthcare administration, or medical coding. The position requires fluency in Spanish to serve the diverse patient population effectively.

The minimum and maximum base hourly wage for this position is $19.88, with potential eligibility for bonuses and overtime. Full-time employment with approximately 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours is expected, along with a commitment of at least one year in the role, with a preference for longer tenure. Oak Street Health provides extensive training in clinical workflows, population health, preventative care, and documentation standards, preparing scribes to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare team.

Oak Street Health values diversity and inclusion, encouraging candidates of all backgrounds to apply. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, retirement savings options, wellness programs, and opportunities for professional growth and rapid advancement. Join Oak Street Health and become part of a mission-driven team dedicated to simplifying healthcare and making a tangible impact on older adults’ health outcomes.
