Job Description
Oak Street Health is a dedicated healthcare provider committed to transforming primary care for adults on Medicare. With a mission to build a world of health around every individual, Oak Street Health strives to create a more connected, convenient, and compassionate health experience for patients, families, and communities nationwide. Recognized for its innovative value-based care model, the organization prioritizes high-quality, preventive care tailored to individual patient needs while working to close critical care gaps and improve overall health outcomes. Oak Street Health embraces a supportive and collaborative environment, bringing together passionate healthcare professionals who demonstrate accountability, empathy, and a commitment to continuous improvement in patient care.
At Oak Street Health, the Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS), also known as a Medical Scribe, plays a pivotal role in supporting primary care providers. This full-time role involves real-time clinical documentation and assisting healthcare providers throughout the patient care journey so that providers can focus more on delivering exceptional care. The CIS participates in daily huddles, accompanies providers during patient exams, documents comprehensive and accurate clinical notes, and assists with administrative and clinical documentation improvement tasks. Beyond standard scribing duties, CISs are experts in chronic condition documentation, ICD-10 and CPT coding, and population health management tools. Extensive on-the-job training ensures they become invaluable members of the primary care team. Ideal candidates are expected to commit at least one to two years to this role, making it especially suitable for pre-medical students or individuals interested in careers in health informatics, public health, healthcare administration, or medical coding.
The compensation range for this position is $17.00 to $28.46 per hour, depending on experience, education, and geographic location. Eligible employees may also receive bonuses or short-term incentives. This role requires a commitment of approximately 40-45 hours per week during clinic operation hours with predictable schedules and breaks. Oak Street Health offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, retirement savings plans, wellness programs, and additional supportive resources. The organization fosters an inclusive culture where every colleague feels valued and supported, reflecting the diversity of the communities served.
By joining Oak Street Health as a Clinical Informatics Specialist, individuals become part of a forward-thinking, patient-centered healthcare team focused on simplifying healthcare and enhancing patient experiences. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain meaningful clinical experience in a dynamic healthcare environment, serving Medicare patients who depend on compassionate and precise clinical documentation for quality care delivery. If you are passionate about healthcare, eager to learn and grow in a collaborative setting, and committed to making a difference in individual lives, this position offers a rewarding career path with meaningful impact.
