With a mission to simplify health care one person, one family, and one community at a time, CVS Health combines diverse health services and cutting-edge technology to improve health outcomes across the nation. The company is well-known for fostering a culture of care, accountability, and continuous innovation, ensuring that every colleague plays a critical role in enhancing patient experiences and overall healthcare delivery. CVS Health's commitment to employee development and community impact positions it as an employer of choice in the healthcare sector.
Oak Street Health, a part of the CVS Health family, is a value-based primary care provider focused on advancing the health of adults on Medicare. Oak Street Health operates community-based centers with an emphasis on improving care and outcomes for populations with complex health needs. Their innovative approach to primary care is centered on comprehensive, personalized care plans supported by a multidisciplinary team environment. This approach not only enhances the patient experience but also ensures improved health outcomes supported by data-driven insights and clinical expertise.
The Medical Scribe (Clinical Informatics Specialist) role at Oak Street Health is designed to support primary care providers by managing clinical documentation, enabling providers to focus on delivering high-quality patient care. Medical Scribes work closely with providers throughout the patient care journey – from planning daily patient visits in morning huddles to observing, documenting, and supporting next steps after the encounter. This role goes beyond traditional scribing by contributing as experts in clinical documentation, value-based care models, and chronic condition management, including coding standards such as ICD-10 and CPT. The Medical Scribe acts as a vital liaison between clinical operations and accurate documentation, ensuring precision and compliance with healthcare standards.
This position requires a thorough understanding of clinical workflows, preventive care, and population health data, skills which Oak Street Health supports through extensive on-the-job training. The Medical Scribe role is an ideal opportunity for pre-medical students and individuals pursuing careers in Health Informatics, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Coding to gain paid, real-world clinical experience in a supportive environment. The position offers a full-time schedule of approximately 40 hours per week and comes with a competitive pay range of $17.00 to $28.46 per hour, along with eligibility for CVS Health’s bonus and incentive programs. Beyond compensation, Oak Street Health invests in its employees with comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, retirement savings plans, and wellness programs.
Candidates will find themselves in a collaborative, mission-driven environment where they can meaningfully contribute to improving the lives of patients and advancing the broader healthcare industry. Oak Street Health emphasizes cultural diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from individuals who can bring unique perspectives and skills to the team. The role demands professional dedication, including a commitment of at least one to two years to maximize the value and impact of this position within the organization. Overall, the Medical Scribe role at Oak Street Health represents a strategic entry point for healthcare-oriented professionals driven by a passion to enhance clinical care quality through precise and compassionate documentation support.
