The role of Medical Scribe, also known as a Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS), at Oak Street Health is integral to the clinic’s mission of providing exceptional patient care. As a Medical Scribe, you will work closely with primary care providers to accurately document patient encounters in real time, allowing providers to focus fully on delivering compassionate, thorough care. This full-time position is based in Paterson, NJ, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The role offers a competitive hourly pay range of $17.00 to $34.15, alongside eligibility for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.

The Medical Scribe supports providers through a diverse set of responsibilities including detailed documentation of patient visits, coding with ICD-10 and CPT systems, preparing after-visit summaries, and providing administrative support related to orders and referrals. Beyond traditional scribing duties, this position emphasizes clinical documentation improvement and the use of population health tools to close care gaps and enhance chronic disease management. Scribes are expected to engage in daily planning huddles, participate in clinical documentation reviews, and collaborate closely with providers to ensure documentation accuracy and specificity.

This role is particularly suited for individuals pursuing careers in medicine, health informatics, public health, or medical coding. It offers valuable hands-on clinical experience in a supportive and educational environment, supported by on-the-job training in clinical workflows, value-based care principles, and health information management.
