Job Description

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a global biopharmaceutical company that focuses on developing and commercializing innovative therapies to address unmet medical needs. The company is renowned for its commitment to science and its mission to improve the lives of patients with serious diseases. Jazz Pharmaceuticals operates with a strong emphasis on research and development, enabling it to bring novel treatments to market that make a meaningful impact on patient care. The organization values integrity, collaboration, and scientific excellence, fostering an environment where employees are empowered to advance medical knowledge and deliver transformative therapies globally.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at Jazz Pharmaceuticals plays a pivotal role within the US Medical Affairs team. This field-based position is critical for bridging communication and scientific exchange between the company and healthcare professionals, particularly key opinion leaders (KOLs) and academic centers of excellence across Northern California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, and Montana. The MSL acts as a scientific expert, providing accurate and timely medical information and clinical support related to Jazz Pharmaceuticals products and therapeutic areas. This role is well-suited to professionals with established expertise and credibility who can build and maintain trusted relationships with healthcare providers and researchers.

The MSL is responsible for identifying and engaging KOLs and healthcare providers, developing and executing territory plans aligned with broader Medical Affairs strategies, and providing scientific support through medical education and advisory activities. Participation in national conferences, investigator meetings, and local or regional scientific events ensures that Jazz Pharmaceuticals remains a scientific authority in its therapeutic areas. Additionally, the MSL helps communicate new clinical data and emerging research trends to key stakeholders, facilitating an exchange of medical information that supports the company’s positioning and product development initiatives.

This position demands a high level of scientific acumen, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. The role requires frequent travel, approximately 60-70% of workdays, necessitating a valid driver’s license and residence within 60 miles of a major airport. Jazz Pharmaceuticals offers competitive compensation for this role, with a base salary range from $160,000 to $240,000, complemented by potential bonuses, equity incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401k retirement savings, and flexible paid vacation.

The ideal candidate holds an advanced degree such as a PharmD, MD, or PhD, or a clinical license with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience. They possess strong strategic thinking abilities, proficiency with digital tools, and demonstrated success in building relationships within the therapeutic landscape. Jazz Pharmaceuticals values ethical behavior, scientific rigor, and a passion for medical advancement, and the MSL role is integral to maintaining these standards while advancing the company’s mission and medical science goals.
