The Vanderbilt Center for Health (VCH) Intensive Care Unit (ICU), part of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, is currently seeking a full-time dayshift Medical Receptionist to join its team at the Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital location. This vital role involves coordinating the nursing station and performing clerical and reception duties that ensure smooth communication and operations within the ICU. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for requisitioning supplies, equipment, and services as needed, as well as managing communications effectively between customers and staff. This position demands a professional who follows hospital policies and procedures rigorously while addressing patient and family needs with compassion and efficiency. The role operates on a day shift running from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM on a rotational weekly basis including weekend shifts, in a unit that operates seven days a week.

The Medical Receptionist's duties include processing orders in line with established guidelines, managing downtime procedures for computer systems, and ensuring accurate entry and updating of patient information in computer systems. They maintain unit logs, schedule follow-up appointments, and take on clerical tasks related to patient discharge. With responsibilities extending to responding to patient calls and requests, the position requires excellent telephone and communication skills, as well as proficiency with various communication tools including pagers, fax machines, and patient call systems. The role also involves managing supplies effectively and cost-consciously.
