Job Description
American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the United States, providing comprehensive medical services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. With a strong commitment to quality care, AFC’s state-of-the-art centers specialize in the episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine. Each location is equipped with onsite labs and in-house x-ray capabilities to ensure patients receive efficient, high-quality care without the need for external referrals. AFC’s approach emphasizes accessible and timely healthcare, catering to the needs of diverse patient populations through convenient hours and well-trained staff. This healthcare provider has made significant strides in expanding its footprint nationwide, ensuring that reliable medical services are always within reach. AFC is also the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF), which owns franchised medical centers across the country. Each franchise operates under AFC’s recognized standards while tailoring services and operational specifics to local community needs. Employment terms and benefits may vary slightly by franchise location but uphold the core values and service excellence that AFC represents.
This particular role is based at one of AFC’s franchised business locations and focuses on patient interaction and administrative support to enhance clinic operations. The position involves several key responsibilities centered around patient check-in and check-out processes, including the verification of insurance details, collection of payments, and meticulous maintenance of patient records and accounts. The role is crucial in maintaining smooth patient flow, ensuring that every patient experiences a positive visit from the moment they arrive until departure. An emphasis on excellent customer service is necessary, as the position acts as a critical communication point between the clinic and its patients. The clerk is expected to greet patients warmly, guide them through initial paperwork, and promptly address any concerns or questions they may have.
Additionally, this role requires managing financial transactions accurately, balancing daily patient charges, and securing financial assets in accordance with clinic protocols. The individual is also responsible for preparing the clinic for opening each day by reviewing the facility, launching all system applications, and organizing new patient registration packets and necessary documents to ensure readiness. At the day’s end, the clerk must complete closing procedures, including documentation and report submissions, to maintain operational integrity. AFC emphasizes a work environment that values accuracy, detail orientation, and a positive, professional attitude. Candidates who bring prior medical clerical experience, strong communication skills, and a well-groomed appearance will thrive in this role. AFC proudly promotes equal employment opportunities and adheres strictly to legal and ethical standards regarding criminal history review and fair chance hiring practices. This position offers a fulfilling opportunity to contribute directly to quality healthcare delivery in a dynamic, patient-focused setting.
