This medical center serves as a vibrant community where individuals are motivated by a shared goal of making a meaningful impact on the world. VUMC prides itself on valuing expertise, expanding knowledge, and challenging abilities in a supportive work environment. Vanderbilt Health is devoted to fostering a culture where every employee feels they are part of something larger than themselves. The team takes exceptional pride in their work and continuously strives to improve by never settling for past achievements. The institution's mission focuses on advancing health and wellness through top-tier programs in patient care, education, and research, making it an inspiring place for healthcare professionals committed to excellence and innovation.

The current opportunity is with the VCH Emergency Room - Sango unit, located at Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital. We are seeking a full-time Medical Receptionist to work day shifts at our Free Standing Emergency Department (FSED). This role is integral to coordinating the nursing station's administrative functions and performing various clerical and reception duties essential for smooth operations. The Medical Receptionist will be responsible for requisitioning supplies, equipment, and services as directed, coordinating communication between patients, customers, and healthcare staff, and strictly adhering to hospital policies and procedures.

Working in the FSED unit means engaging with a dynamic healthcare environment where the delivery of clinical practice standards is paramount. The Medical Receptionist will be expected to handle telephonic communication professionally, maintain organized filing systems, accurately input and maintain data logs, schedule appointments, and facilitate physician and patient consultations. The ability to work independently under limited supervision with adherence to written and oral instructions is crucial. Additionally, familiarity with the biopsychosocial and spiritual aspects of human behavior, ranging from infancy through geriatrics, is highly valuable to this role.

Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of hospital and unit policies, including compliance with infection control procedures, personal protective equipment standards, and isolation processes. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet the needs of patients, staff, and the community, as the shift operates on rotating 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, with weekend requirements. This role provides a meaningful career path within a reputable healthcare system that emphasizes professional growth, community engagement, and comprehensive employee benefits beginning on the first day of employment.

At Vanderbilt, employees are supported through an extensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a 403b retirement plan with company match, generous paid time off, tuition assistance, and opportunities for career advancement through a structured growth ladder. The culture fosters professionalism, effective communication, empathy, and a positive outlook, especially during high-pressure situations. The environment encourages teamwork, accountability, and innovation focused on delivering excellence in service and patient care.

The Medical Receptionist role not only supports the clinical team but also plays a vital part in the broader organizational goals through effective administration and communication. This position requires commitment to maintaining required licensure, certifications, and continuing education to ensure ongoing competency. Employees at Vanderbilt Health are part of a growing healthcare system that values and encourages diversity, inclusion, and the continuous pursuit of knowledge and quality improvement. This role is ideal for individuals seeking to contribute to a respected medical center while advancing their career in a supportive and challenging environment.
