This role involves coordinating the nursing station, performing essential clerical and reception duties, and facilitating effective communication between patients, customers, and staff according to hospital policies and procedures.
The Medical Receptionist position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully within the clinical environment by ensuring smooth and efficient operations at the clinical front desk. Operating primarily during three 12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM with weekly rotation and weekend requirements, this role demands flexibility and dedication to schedule needs that support both patients and healthcare providers. The Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in the delivery of clinical practice standards by assisting with requisitioning supplies, managing appointments, and maintaining organized filing systems. They also support communication flow by answering phones, inputting data, managing logs, and facilitating patient or physician consults.
This position emphasizes professionalism, effective communication, empathy, and compliance with safety and infection control protocols. It requires a candidate who can work under limited supervision, adapt to evolving clinical environments, and demonstrate positive interpersonal skills during high-pressure situations. The role also includes responsibilities in utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE), attending department meetings, and consistently providing accurate hand-off communication to ensure continuity of care.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- less than 1 year relevant work experience
- ability to follow written and oral instructions
- knowledge of biopsychosocial and spiritual aspects of human behavior from infancy to geriatrics
- flexibility to work rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends
- ability to demonstrate professional and positive behavior in stressful situations
- maintenance of required licensure, certification, and annual education
- adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and regulations
- ability to operate office equipment and perform clerical duties
- good communication and organizational skills
