The role of Receptionist / Administrative Coordinator at Alpha Home Health & Hospice is vital as it serves as the first point of contact for patients, families, referral sources, and healthcare providers. As the voice and heart of the agency, the Receptionist / Administrative Coordinator handles multi-line phone systems with professionalism, warmth, and a sense of urgency while managing intake coordination, patient records, physician orders, and referral processing. This role also includes supporting clinical and leadership teams with various projects and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in managing patient and administrative files. Candidates who excel in this role are adept at balancing multiple priorities, have exceptional attention to detail, and bring a positive and welcoming energy to patients, families, and colleagues.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and a professional phone presence. Experience within healthcare settings, especially home health or hospice, is highly preferred but not mandatory. Technical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health records, as well as the ability to type at least 50 words per minute, are important for success. The knowledge of medical terminology and previous experience in intake or administrative coordination will set candidates apart.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of two years of administrative, customer service, healthcare, or office support experience preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, referral sources, physicians, and community partners
- Answer and route incoming calls with professionalism, warmth, and urgency
- Assist with intake coordination and referral processing
- Support medical records management and document tracking
- Maintain patient and administrative files in compliance with agency and regulatory requirements
- Process physician orders and ensure timely follow-up on signed documentation
- Assist with scheduling, correspondence, data entry, and general office operations
