Penn Medicine - Becker ENT & Allergy is a prominent and fast-growing multi-specialty medical practice with numerous locations throughout Philadelphia and Central and South Jersey. We are currently seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our expanding team in Central Jersey. The Medical Receptionist will be responsible for greeting patients and vendors, managing patient check-ins and check-outs, and accurately entering demographic and medical information into the Epic electronic medical records (EMR) system. The role also involves scheduling appointments for both new and returning patients, assisting providers with procedures, and managing communications including calls regarding appointment scheduling and prior authorizations for imaging or medication refills. To maintain a well-functioning clinical office, the Medical Receptionist will follow daily opening and closing checklists, ensure exam rooms are fully stocked and clean, and handle general clerical duties such as scanning charts, sending follow-up calls, and utilizing email, phone systems, computers, and Google Apps. The position requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask efficiently within a dynamic medical office environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience as a medical receptionist or medical assistant preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Knowledge of EMR systems, preferably Epic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be COVID-19 vaccinated and boosted or have an approved exemption
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday during day shifts

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a medical receptionist or medical assistant preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Epic
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Proficient in using phone, email, and computer applications including Google Apps
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to assist medical providers as needed

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and vendors
  • Obtain and enter patient demographic information into the Epic System
  • Check patients in and out
  • Room patients, take their vital signs and input into the EMR System
  • Schedule appointments for return and new patients
  • Review any documents given to patient by provider
  • Answer any incoming calls regarding scheduling appointments or prior authorizations for Imaging or Medication refills
  • Assist the Providers in procedures
  • Follow daily routine opening checklist and closing checklist
  • Make sure each patient room is fully stocked
  • Keep front reception area clean and organized
  • Inform Office Manager if the office is running low on any office or medical supplies
  • General clerical duties include but not limited to
  • scanning charts into the EMR system, follow up calls to patients, use of email, phone, computers, and Google Apps
