Job Description

Planned Parenthood is a nationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive reproductive health care, education, and advocacy. Committed to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, respect, integrity, customer focus, and innovation, Planned Parenthood creates a dynamic and welcoming work environment for all staff and visitors. Operating a network of health centers, Planned Parenthood serves communities with a variety of health services, including abortion care, contraception, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, and general wellness care. The organization is known for its respectful and patient-centered approach, ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds feel valued and supported.

As part of the Planned Parenthood family, the Rocky Mountains branch offers a part-time Medical Receptionist role focused on supporting abortion care services through clinical triage, patient education, and follow-up. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, playing a critical role in providing empathetic and timely support to individuals seeking sensitive reproductive health services. The Medical Receptionist manages patient registration, scheduling, billing, and facilitates communication between patients and clinical staff. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 105, and governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

The Medical Receptionist role at Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains is a part-time, approximately 30 hours per week position with a salary range of $22.08 to $25.62 per hour. The budgeted hiring range for new employees is $22.08 to $23.78 per hour, with an additional $2.25 per hour pay for Spanish fluency after passing a proficiency test. The work schedule includes Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm. This role is benefits eligible, offering a comprehensive package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; mental health coverage; paid time off; and retirement contributions, among others.

Beyond administrative duties, the Medical Receptionist actively contributes to maintaining operations within the health center, supporting patient care by managing supply inventories, assisting with cleaning and stocking of exam rooms, and helping coordinate various healthcare processes. The position also involves acting as a mandatory reporter per state requirements and participating in health center security efforts. In addition to patient-facing responsibilities, the receptionist handles vital behind-the-scenes tasks such as bookkeeping, processing payments, and facilitating the adoption of patient portal technologies.

Planned Parenthood values applicants who have a high school diploma or equivalent, reliable transportation, and are willing to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of hire. The organization requires health center staff to follow COVID-19 and flu vaccination protocols or adhere to masking requirements during relevant seasons, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff. Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer, committed to maintaining a non-discriminatory workplace regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any protected characteristic.

This Medical Receptionist role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about reproductive health and patient-centered care to join a supportive and mission-driven team. Employees benefit from comprehensive professional development, a collaborative workplace culture, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of people accessing reproductive health services. Prospective candidates should be prepared to work in a dynamic health center environment, interacting with a diverse patient population while supporting the operational excellence of Planned Parenthood's clinical services.
