The position of Business Services Representative in our Gastroenterology outpatient office is a vital role designed for individuals who thrive in dynamic, patient-facing environments. This full-time day shift role serves as the welcoming face and voice of our practice, offering the first point of contact for patients entering or calling our office. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining smooth office operations by performing a range of front desk responsibilities such as greeting patients warmly, handling phone communications professionally, scheduling appointments efficiently, and managing patient registrations and insurance verifications. Additionally, the role includes collecting copays, thereby aiding financial processes within the clinic.
Beyond administrative duties, the Business Services Representative supports clinical teams through assisting with pre-certifications, prior authorizations, referrals, and the preparation of patient charts. Handling both incoming and outgoing faxes is also an integral part of the job, further contributing to the seamless coordination of patient care. This position suits individuals who are organized, detail-oriented, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and are keen to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the patient experience from start to finish. - experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
- knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
- excellent keyboard skills
- proficiency in a Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products

Job Duties
- Greets and communicates with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department
- answers telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting
- processes calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member/provider in a timely manner
- schedules patient appointments based on department protocols in order to maximize provider productivity
- manages patient registration, insurance verification, and collects copays
- supports clinical team with pre-certifications, prior authorizations, referrals, chart preparation, and handling incoming and outgoing faxes
