Job Description

UW Health is a comprehensive healthcare system serving northern Illinois and Wisconsin, known for its commitment to quality patient care and a supportive work environment. As a leading provider in the region, UW Health offers a wide range of medical services across numerous specialties and facilities. The organization places a strong emphasis on fostering a culture of inclusion, professional development, and employee well-being, making it a desirable place to build a healthcare career.

This particular role is a part-time position at the UW Health 1340 Charles St Clinic, operating at 20% full-time equivalent (FTE). The selected candidate will work a single eight-hour shift per week during the clinic’s operating hours, Monday through Friday. The shift will be scheduled between 7:45 AM and 5:00 PM, with the possibility of covering additional days as needed due to vacations, unexpected absences, or other short-notice situations. Flexibility and reliability are key in this role, as last-minute schedule changes may be required.

As a receptionist, you will be the initial point of contact for patients and visitors, providing a welcoming and professional atmosphere. This role involves a combination of reception duties and word processing tasks, ensuring efficient patient flow and communication within the clinic. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously are crucial for success.

UW Health supports its employees through a competitive compensation package, including additional pay components such as evening, night, and weekend shift differentials, overtime, and on-call pay. Employees at UW Health also benefit from an extensive array of benefits designed to promote health, financial security, and work-life balance. These include paid time off (PTO), comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, retirement savings opportunities, short and long-term disability coverage, as well as family-friendly policies such as paternity leave and adoption assistance.

Additional perks include access to annual wellness reimbursements to encourage healthy living, an opportunity for on-site daycare through the UW Health Kids program, tuition reimbursement options for career advancement, and a robust system for career growth and professional development. UW Health fosters a strong shared governance structure, empowering employees to contribute their voices to decision-making processes and continuously improve workplace culture.

At UW Health, there is a deep commitment to creating an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes belonging for all employees. The organization practices equal employment opportunity by ensuring non-discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, veteran status, disability, or genetic information. This commitment is reflected in day-to-day interactions and the inclusive practices embedded in UW Health’s operations and policies.
