The role of the Medical Receptionist at N.E.W. Community Clinic is integral to the patient experience. As the first point of contact, the receptionist sets the tone for all patient interactions and plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, safe, and respectful environment. This full-time position (36+ hours per week) requires someone who is experienced, empathetic, and attentive to detail. The Medical Receptionist will manage patient intake, maintain accurate electronic medical records, collect fees accurately according to clinic policies, and assist with various clerical tasks to support the smooth operation of the clinic. Additionally, the receptionist will help maintain the cleanliness and order of the reception and clinic areas, ensure confidentiality by securing patient information, and facilitate communication by translating when necessary.

- availability to work Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in medical receptionist or related role preferred
- proficiency in bilingual communication (English and Spanish) strongly preferred
- strong organizational and multitasking skills
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- basic clerical skills
- ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- commitment to compassionate patient service
Job Duties
- Responsible for all phases of patient intake, patient electronic records, and collecting fees according to policy
- input patient data into patient record in an accurate manner
- assist patients as necessary to complete necessary forms
- assist with maintenance of the clinic reception area and general clinic maintenance and cleaning as requested
- assure that all confidential information, including locking computer equipment and logging off telephones is completed at the end of the day and any other time the clinic reception area is vacant
- assume general clerical duties
- documentation of patient concerns/requests and forwarding concerns to appropriate providers/staff
- provide and obtain signatures on required forms and consents
- obtain, verify, and enter complete and accurate demographic information on all accounts to facilitate smooth processing through the revenue cycle
- confirm the correct payor and plan is entered into the EMR system
- scan all registration and clinical documentation into the system and maintain all medical records
- maintain log of all patients, payments received
- maintain cash drawer according to policies
- maintain visitor/vendor log
- mail necessary documents to clients or identified parties and distribute incoming mail appropriately
- receive deliveries including mail from various carriers and forward to appropriate departments as needed
- notify appropriate contact of any malfunctioning equipment or maintenance needs
- translate when necessary
