Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • at least one year of administrative experience
  • preferred previous healthcare facility employment
  • excellent verbal and written communication
  • strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • great organizational skills and detail orientation
  • knowledge of clerical procedures and filing
  • ability to work independently
  • strict confidentiality with patient information
  • understanding of medical terminology and office ethics

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • at least one year of experience in an administrative role
  • previous employment in a healthcare facility preferred
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software

  • basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing
  • ability to work independently
  • knowledge of confidentiality requirements and strict maintenance of patient information
  • knowledge of medical terminology, spelling, and office ethics

Job Duties

  • Check patients in and out
  • register patients, collecting co-pays and deposits at the front desk
  • prepare all necessary documents for patients including new patient paperwork, insurance cards, and notice of privacy practices
  • create new patient charts and retrieve existing charts as needed
  • file documentation into charts
  • maintain confidentiality, security, and physician safety of patient medical records
  • maintain a pre-determined, organized medical record format
  • interact with physician and office personnel in a friendly manner
  • answer phones politely and direct calls appropriately
  • adhere to facility clinical guidelines relevant to the position
  • complete annual mandatory training by due dates
  • receive and direct phone calls, schedule appointments, and obtain patient information to update records
  • record patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information while maintaining confidentiality
  • prepare examination rooms
  • provide compassionate support to patients and families
  • ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations including HIPAA and OSHA
  • perform other duties as assigned
