Job Description
Pediatric Associates is a well-established medical practice specializing in pediatric healthcare, committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care for children from infancy through adolescence. With multiple office locations and a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, Pediatric Associates focuses on creating a friendly, supportive environment for patients and their families. The practice emphasizes quality care, preventive health measures, and patient education to ensure the well-being of every child in their care. Operating with a patient-centered approach, they continuously strive to adapt to the needs of the community with professionalism and empathy.
The role of the Medical Receptionist at Pediatric Associates is a vital component in maintaining efficient office operations and delivering excellent patient service. This part-time position is based in the front office and involves direct interaction with patients and visitors upon their arrival. The Medical Receptionist serves as the welcoming face of the practice, greeting patients warmly and assisting them through various administrative processes. Responsibilities include checking in patients by updating their demographic information, insurance details, and collecting copayments or outstanding balances. The receptionist also handles patient check-out by providing visit summaries, arranging follow-up appointments, and ensuring that all necessary documents are completed and distributed.
Beyond front desk duties, the Medical Receptionist verifies patient insurance through systems such as Batch Eligibility, follows up with patients when insurance information is inactive or incomplete, and posts patient charges and payments with accuracy. This role demands excellent organizational skills to manage scanning, uploading documents, sorting mail, and maintaining a clean and welcoming office and waiting area environment. The receptionist participates in staff and educational meetings to stay informed about office protocols and to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Ideal candidates should possess a minimum of one year of experience working in a medical office setting, with knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures considered an asset. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential as the role involves direct interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and staff. The ability to maintain patient confidentiality, demonstrate good judgment, and provide top-notch customer service is critical. Comfortable use of computers and common office equipment like scanners and fax machines is required. This position requires physical capabilities including standing and sitting for extended periods, lifting light loads, and wearing personal protective equipment as needed.
Overall, the Medical Receptionist at Pediatric Associates plays a crucial role in creating a positive first impression, ensuring smooth patient flow, and supporting the operational needs of the practice. Those who thrive in a dynamic, patient-focused healthcare environment and want to contribute to improving the healthcare experience for children and families will find this opportunity rewarding and fulfilling.
