Job Description

Family Health Center at Beverly in Salem, OR, part of Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC), plays an instrumental role in providing high-quality, accessible healthcare to the Pacific Northwest. With over 40 clinics spread across Washington and Oregon, YVFWC is a leading community health center offering a comprehensive range of services including medical, dental, pharmacy, orthodontia, nutritional counseling, autism screening, and behavioral health support. Beyond traditional medical care, YVFWC extends assistance in areas such as shelter, energy, weatherization, HIV and AIDS counseling, home visits, and mobile medical/dental clinics. This deeply community-focused organization is dedicated to transforming lives and eliminating barriers to health and well-being through compassionate, individualized care.

Joining the Family Health Center as a Medical Receptionist means becoming an essential link between patients and healthcare providers, establishing a warm and respectful environment from the moment patients arrive. The role is full-time, providing a steady schedule of 40 hours per week with a competitive hourly wage range of $18.35 to $22.48 DOE (depending on experience), and potential for even higher pay for highly experienced candidates. In addition to the base pay, bilingual skills are rewarded with additional pay. The position offers 100% employer-paid health insurance, covering medical, dental, vision, prescription drugs, and includes 24/7 telemedicine access. Employees also benefit from profit sharing, a 403(b) retirement plan, generous paid time off, eight paid holidays, and many more attractive perks.

As the first point of contact for patients, the Medical Receptionist’s responsibilities include welcoming and greeting patients, managing communications such as answering phones, transferring calls, responding to inquiries in person and through the patient portal, and providing translation support when necessary. The role involves creating and maintaining detailed patient records, managing patient registration, and ensuring all forms and data meet compliance requirements. Scheduling and adjusting patient appointments according to clinic protocols is a core duty, which includes handling cancellations and no-shows efficiently.

Insurance verification and support is another critical function where the Medical Receptionist assists patients by verifying eligibility, collecting necessary documentation, and answering questions related to insurance. Handling routine billing activities such as posting patient encounters, accepting payments, and daily cash reconciliation also falls under this role. The Medical Receptionist provides vital administrative support to healthcare providers and clinic staff, ensuring smooth and efficient front office workflow.

Candidates for this role need to have a High School Diploma or GED and demonstrate strong bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish at a proficiency level of 9. Exceptional customer service and communication skills are essential, combined with the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage interruptions professionally. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and electronic health systems is required. While experience as a clinic receptionist or in a medical front office is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Family Health Center at Beverly encourages passionate and dedicated individuals to join their team and be part of a mission that transcends healthcare delivery by fostering healthier communities through inclusivity, accessibility, and patient-centered care. Applications are welcomed from candidates committed to the organization’s values and eager to contribute to transforming community health outcomes.
