Job Description

The Salvation Army Rochester Corps is a branch of The Salvation Army, a global evangelical movement committed to providing holistic and person-centered services to individuals and families in need. Known for its extensive community outreach and support programs, this organization embodies a mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs without discrimination. Located in Rochester, Minnesota, the Rochester Corps actively engages in offering worship services, pastoral care, case management, and essential assistance with food, clothing, utility and rent support, housing, dental and medical services, as well as meaningful connections to community partners. Their mission is deeply rooted in Christian values with an aim to 'Do the Most Good' for the community they serve.

The Medical Receptionist position at The Salvation Army Rochester Corps plays a critical role in the smooth operation of the Student Community Clinic. This part-time role requires a dedicated individual responsible for a wide range of administrative and clinical support duties to ensure efficient and compassionate service delivery. The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact by greeting and registering patients, managing appointment schedules, responding to patient inquiries, and assisting student healthcare providers during clinic sessions. Additionally, the role encompasses the distribution of medications following established protocols and maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment.

This position offers a work schedule of 16 hours per week with a competitive hourly wage in the range of $18 to $19. The work is conducted on-site at the clinic located at 20 NE First Avenue, Rochester, MN 55906, and involves both administrative tasks and hands-on clinic support. Applicants can expect an engaging work environment within a community-focused organization, where they contribute directly to the wellbeing and healthcare access of local residents through the Student Community Clinic.

The Medical Receptionist must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, including conversational Spanish, to effectively interact with patients, students, and staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, electronic health records (EHR), and general computer use is essential, alongside a basic understanding of medical terminology and medication handling. Organizational skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, and professionalism are critical competencies for success in this role. The individual must be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic clinic setting while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and patient privacy.

The role does not involve supervisory responsibilities or travel requirements but necessitates occasional physical activity such as lifting up to 25 pounds and standing or walking during clinic hours. The Salvation Army Rochester Corps emphasizes a commitment to its faith-based mission, requiring all employees to support its spiritual objectives while ensuring quality healthcare service delivery. Overall, this is a rewarding opportunity for those seeking part-time work in a healthcare-adjacent position within a reputable nonprofit organization dedicated to social and medical support.
