Embracing a strong vision, mission, and purpose, the center operates with core values and guiding principles that emphasize patient-centered care, cultural respect, and community wellness. The Tucson Indian Center offers a range of health programs including medical, behavioral health, and preventive care services tailored to the unique needs of its patients.

The Medical Receptionist (MR) position at Tucson Indian Center plays a vital role in this healthcare setting by serving as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. This role requires providing outstanding customer service while managing front desk responsibilities and maintaining accurate health information and patient files, including electronic health records (EHR). The Medical Receptionist is responsible for greeting patients warmly, verifying eligibility through programs like the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and other payment sources, enrolling new clients, and performing various clerical tasks essential for clinic operations.

This full-time position is crucial in facilitating smooth patient flow and ensuring compliance with privacy laws such as HIPAA and the Privacy Act. The Medical Receptionist manages appointment scheduling, answers incoming calls, and provides clerical support needed by medical staff. By upholding a professional demeanor and protecting patient confidentiality, the MR enhances the quality of care and contributes to the positive reputation of the Tucson Indian Center.

The role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Medical Assistants, and providers. The Medical Receptionist also supports patient education, especially regarding eligibility for health services and funding programs like Title V. Maintaining timely and accurate patient records, managing provider schedules, and assisting with quality improvement initiatives are key components of the job.

With exposure to varied working conditions, including both office and clinic environments, the Medical Receptionist must be adaptable and physically capable of handling duties such as standing, walking, and occasional lifting. The job also requires certifications in HIPAA, CPR, AED, and First Aid, alongside compliance with health and safety standards including immunizations and tuberculosis testing. A valid Arizona Driver's License is required due to local travel responsibilities.
