The Medical Receptionist position at Simon Eye Associates serves as the essential first point of contact for patients, setting the tone for their entire visit. This role is pivotal in a fast-paced medical environment and requires delivering a 'WOW' experience through top-notch customer service. As a Medical Receptionist, you will greet and check in patients, accurately process patient charges, collect co-payments in line with insurance requirements, and verify insurance and demographic information. The ability to resolve patient concerns effectively by collaborating with various departments enhances seamless patient care coordination. Scheduling appointments and communicating efficiently with providers and staff are key parts of this dynamic role. The position demands a professional approach, outstanding multi-tasking skills, and computer proficiency. Candidates must be prepared for varied shifts, including evening and weekend hours, to accommodate patient needs.

Job Requirements

  • At least high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years experience in customer service preferably in medical environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to handle multi-tasking in a fast-paced setting
  • Proficiency with computer systems and databases
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
  • Availability to work evening and weekend shifts

Job Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience providing exceptional customer service preferably in a fast-paced medical environment
  • Ability to understand and communicate patient insurance information clearly and professionally
  • Ability to multi-task and work quickly and accurately while maintaining a positive patient experience
  • Proficiency in using computer databases including typing accuracy
  • High level of professionalism and self-motivation
  • Ability to work at least one evening per week and two Saturdays per month to meet patient needs

Job Duties

  • Accurately enter and communicate patient charges
  • Collect co-payments from patients as required by insurance guidelines
  • Review registration information on file and verify insurance plan information
  • Update and maintain patient insurance and demographic information
  • Resolve patient issues by obtaining and evaluating all relevant information and coordinate with other departments when needed
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Communicate with providers and staff throughout daily events
