Job Description

American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the United States, known for delivering accessible and high-quality medical services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. With over 250 clinics nationwide and more than 800 in-network physicians, AFC serves over six million patients annually, making it a leader in urgent care, primary care, and occupational medicine. The company’s facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including onsite labs and in-house x-ray capabilities, ensuring comprehensive diagnostic services. AFC is committed to providing patient-centered healthcare that is convenient, compassionate, and economical, promoting the health and well-being of the communities it serves.

AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC, which allows franchise-owned clinics the flexibility to manage their operations independently. Each franchise has the autonomy to hire, train, and manage staff, as well as to design their unique compensation and benefit packages. This model supports a diverse yet consistent healthcare experience across all locations. Company-owned clinics, by contrast, offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and a matching 401(k) retirement plan.

The Patient Services Representative role at AFC is a vital position focused on supporting the front desk operations of the clinic. This is a full-time position that revolves around ensuring a smooth, welcoming, and efficient experience for patients seeking urgent and primary care. Key responsibilities include greeting patients, verifying insurance information, managing patient records, processing payments, and maintaining patient flow throughout the clinic. This role requires excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor, as the representative serves as the first point of contact for patients.

This role demands precision in handling sensitive patient information and financial transactions. The Patient Services Representative prepares the clinic daily by opening systems and organizing necessary documentation, registers patients efficiently, and performs closing procedures accurately each day. The representative also assists with appointment scheduling and responds promptly to patient inquiries, ensuring high-quality customer service. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and a focus on accuracy are essential for success in this role.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with prior experience in a medical clerical environment preferred. Proficiency in basic computer applications like Microsoft Office is important, as is the ability to maintain a professional appearance and telephone manner. AFC values employees who are detail-oriented, courteous, and dedicated to delivering superior patient experiences.

Working at AFC offers the chance to be part of a dynamic and fast-growing healthcare company that is dedicated to innovation and excellence in patient care. The environment promotes teamwork and professional development while offering flexible scheduling, paid time off, comprehensive health benefits, and retirement options. Those pursuing a career in healthcare administration will find this role an excellent opportunity to develop their skills and contribute meaningfully to patient wellness and clinic operations.
