As part of our ongoing growth strategy, SMS is seeking a compassionate and organized Front Desk Receptionist to join our radiation oncology practice. This role is pivotal in ensuring a positive experience for our patients, who often require sensitive and empathetic care during their cancer treatment journey. The Front Desk Receptionist will manage daily front office operations, serving as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. This position demands a combination of multitasking skills, professionalism, and an empathetic demeanor to effectively handle a high-volume, fast-paced medical environment. Key responsibilities include welcoming patients with warmth, managing patient intake processes, handling complex scheduling tasks, and maintaining meticulous patient records within our electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working as a receptionist or front office representative in a medical setting
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Dependable and punctual with a professional appearance
- Basic computer skills including filing faxing scanning and data entry

Job Duties
- Greet and welcome patients and visitors with professionalism and compassion
- Check patients in and out ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information
- Answer screen and route incoming phone calls in a timely manner
- Schedule confirm and coordinate patient appointments
- Maintain patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding patient flow and needs
- Ensure the reception area is clean organized and stocked with necessary materials
- Handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist patients with forms questions and general inquiries
- Perform general clerical duties such as filing faxing scanning and data entry
- Support the care team by helping manage daily workflow and patient coordination
