Job Description

Lancaster Family Health Center at Lancaster, located in Salem, OR, is part of a broader healthcare organization committed to making a significant difference in community health. This organization has grown into a leading community health center in the Pacific Northwest with over 40 clinics across Washington and Oregon. The center offers a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including medical, dental, pharmacy, orthodontia, nutritional counseling, autism screening, and behavioral health services. This holistic healthcare model extends beyond traditional medical care by providing critical support such as shelter assistance, energy and weatherization help, HIV and AIDS counseling, home visits, and mobile medical and dental clinics. Their approach emphasizes community well-being and inclusivity, addressing the diverse needs of families in the region and improving health outcomes on multiple levels.

The role of Medical Receptionist at Lancaster Family Health Center is an essential position that supports the smooth operation of the clinic and serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. This position is full-time and offers competitive pay ranging from $18.35 to $22.48 per hour, with higher compensation available for highly experienced candidates. Additionally, the position includes benefits such as 100% employer-paid health insurance covering medical, dental, vision, prescription medications, and 24/7 telemedicine access. Employees may also participate in a profit-sharing and 403(b) retirement plan, enjoy generous paid time off, and receive eight paid holidays annually.

In the Medical Receptionist role, you will be responsible for managing phone communications, greeting patients, and maintaining accurate patient and visitor logs. You will ensure patient data is complete and correctly entered into the system, handle appointment scheduling according to established guidelines, and assist patients with insurance verification and documentation. The role also includes providing translation services when needed and delivering excellent customer service by responding to patient inquiries in person, by phone, or via the patient portal.

This position sometimes requires performing routine billing functions, such as posting patient encounters, processing payments, and generating end-of-day financial reports. A strong attention to detail is necessary to reconcile daily cash box receipts accurately. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, prior experience as a receptionist within a clinical setting, and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish at a required level. Familiarity with medical terminology, basic healthcare billing and insurance processes, and computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel will support success in this role.
