Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, a prominent member of the EyeCare Partners family of practices, is currently seeking a dedicated Optometrist to join their team in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Grand Rapids Ophthalmology stands as the leading comprehensive eye care group in the west Michigan market. With operations spanning 13 locations and two surgery centers, the practice is well-equipped to provide extensive eye care services. The group comprises 12 Physicians and 20 Optometrists, making it one of the most robust eye care teams in the region. As part of the largest integrated eye care network in the United States, the practice has enhanced its ability to deliver exceptional medical and surgical treatments for various eye diseases and conditions.
In 2023 alone, Grand Rapids Ophthalmology served over 800,000 patients, reflecting its vast reach and reputation for clinical excellence. Optometrists in this practice have an important role triaging calls with a call schedule of one in ten weekends, and there is no hospital on-call responsibility as a designated physician covers all on-call needs for the group. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, with no weekend shifts required, and utilizes NextGen as its electronic health record (EHR) system to streamline patient care and record-keeping.

Job Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree
- Current state optometry license
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience preferred
- Ability to triage patient calls effectively
- Commitment to patient-centered care
- Excellent communication skills
- Availability to work Monday through Friday
- Willingness to participate in clinical trials and continuing education
Job Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
- Valid state optometry license
- Experience with patient triaging and clinical eye care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems, preferably NextGen
Job Duties
- Triaging patient calls during on-call weekends
- Conducting comprehensive eye exams and diagnosing ocular conditions
- Prescribing corrective lenses and treatment plans
- Participating in clinical trials and research activities
- Collaborating with physicians and staff to coordinate patient care
- Maintaining accurate patient records using NextGen EHR
