The role offered is for a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Advanced, within the Transfusion Services Laboratory at Duke University Hospital. This position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule during the first shift and is eligible for a $7,500 commitment bonus. The Medical Laboratory Scientist in this advanced role will perform a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests essential for diagnosing and managing diseases. Duties include specimen handling, operating both manual and automated equipment, troubleshooting assay issues, and ensuring quality assurance through regular documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, the role involves maintaining laboratory inventory, supporting lab inspections, and participating in developing new testing techniques. The successful candidate will serve as a technical resource within the lab, providing guidance and instruction to trainees and other staff while strictly adhering to safety and competency protocols. This role requires a bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology, alongside appropriate generalist or specialty certification. Candidates are preferred to have at least three to five years of experience, demonstrating proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and protocols.
