The Medical Equipment Technician position at DASCO is a vital role focused on the timely, courteous, and efficient delivery and assembly of medical equipment and supplies necessary for patient care. This full-time role, working primarily Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with some required after-hours on-call shifts including overnight and weekend coverage, demands a service-oriented individual who can provide superior customer education to patients and caregivers. The technician is responsible not only for the physical delivery and installation but also for educating patients on proper use, maintenance, and benefits of the medical equipment provided. The role requires strict compliance with various laws and regulations such as HIPAA, Joint Commission standards, FDA, OSHA, and state regulatory boards, ensuring that every aspect of the job upholds the highest safety and quality standards.
In addition to delivery duties, the Medical Equipment Technician handles warehouse inventory management including equipment cleanliness and repair, vehicle maintenance, and the completion of mandated paperwork and compliance logs. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a qualified driving record
- Ability to work full-time Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with periodic after-hours on-call shifts
- Ability to travel throughout the day for deliveries
- Capability to lift and move equipment up to 150 pounds
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to medical equipment
- Strong attention to detail and customer service orientation
- Willingness to work in diverse environments including outdoor conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Residential delivery driver experience preferred
- Customer service experience in medical, insurance, or healthcare settings preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a qualified driving record
- Knowledge of compliance requirements in medical equipment delivery
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to handle physical demands including lifting and moving heavy equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Time management and stress management skills
Job Duties
- Deliver medical equipment and supplies, educate patients and caregivers on use, maintenance and benefits, complete all required paperwork
- Maintain compliance logs and applicable records and receipts per policy and procedure
- Understand and comply with all applicable laws, rules and regulations including HIPAA, Joint Commission, FDA, OSHA, ORCB, state Pharmacy Boards, state Respiratory Boards, and state Departments of Transportation
- Provide afterhours coverage with other Medical Equipment Technicians
- Support and participate in training of new Medical Equipment Technicians
- Identify patient needs or revenue opportunities and communicate for follow-up
- Support vehicle maintenance by unloading and cleaning daily, complete maintenance manifests
- Maintain warehouse, inventory levels and equipment cleanliness and repair
- Perform other duties as assigned by branch office manager
