Job Description

IES is a physician-owned and managed emergency room (ER) group that stands out by being free from outside investor influence, which allows it to focus solely on providing excellence in healthcare. IES serves several facilities including the OakBend Medical Center (OakBend) health system, a reputable and independent health system based in a desirable suburb southwest of Houston, Texas. Established as a non-profit organization in 1947, OakBend Medical Center has grown significantly and now serves Fort Bend County and surrounding areas with comprehensive healthcare services. This independent nature enables OakBend and IES leaders to collaborate closely with hospital executives, ensuring that community-specific healthcare needs are met effectively. OakBend Medical Center also recently partnered with Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine to establish an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program scheduled to welcome its first residents in August 2024. This educational advancement underlines OakBend’s commitment to expanding primary care access within the local community while training new physicians in a supportive environment.

The Regional Medical Director role at IES is a unique and highly impactful position responsible for overseeing the clinical and administrative operations across three emergency departments (EDs) within the OakBend health system. This leadership role reports directly to IES and works closely with hospital leadership as well as IES executive staff including the Executive Vice President of IES Houston. The Regional Medical Director provides on-site management for ED operations, ensuring high-quality care, effective staffing, and implementation of quality improvement initiatives. With support from an Associate Medical Director or a clinical administrative fellow, a Practice Administrator, and other operational teams like Scheduling, Credentialing, and Recruitment, the Regional Medical Director manages clinical service delivery seamlessly. This position offers a monthly stipend and allocated time for administrative duties, highlighting the organization's commitment to supporting leadership and operational excellence. By filling this role, the Regional Medical Director can directly influence patient care models tailored to the community’s needs, reinforcing IES’s mission to deliver outstanding emergency medical services in an efficient, patient-focused environment.
