Job Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of an accredited training program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire with BART required within 6 months
- Minimum 1 year of experience in primary care or family medicine
- Proficiency in venipuncture
- Ability to work various hours and locations based on business needs
- Successful completion of criminal background check and pre-employment physical
- Compliance with UC vaccination policies
- Disclosure of any misconduct within the last seven years
Job Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a fast-paced Primary Care or Family Medicine setting
- Proficiency in venipuncture and blood draws
- Knowledge of medical terminology, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Two years of medical assistant experience preferred
- Experience assisting with procedures such as splinting, injections, and wound care preferred
- Experience with Epic electronic health records preferred
- Familiarity with UCSD workflows preferred
- Venipuncture certification preferred
Job Duties
- Rooming patients and taking vital signs
- Assisting with medical procedures
- Performing venipuncture and specimen collection
- Managing patient flow and supporting efficient clinic operations
- Scheduling appointments and managing electronic health records
- Maintaining exam rooms, stocking supplies, and ensuring infection control standards
- Supporting providers with in-basket tasks and patient communication
