This listing is for a full-time Floater Medical Assistant position at RSBCIHI, providing an excellent opportunity to support clinical operations across multiple clinic locations within the network. The role requires a motivated and competent Medical Assistant who can flexibly work across different sites including San Manuel Indian Health Clinic and others like Santa Rosa, Pechanga, Morongo, Soboba, Torres Martinez, Cahuilla, and Barstow Indian Health Clinics. The position involves travel between these locations with reliable transportation and a valid California driver’s license required. This is a non-exempt role offering $22.00 per hour, totaling approximately $45,760 annually, with benefits. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, including late evening shifts once weekly until 7:00 pm. Flexibility for variable scheduling and weekend work when needed is essential.

As a Floater Medical Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to deliver competent, age-specific care to patients in an ambulatory primary care setting across multiple specialties. You will be expected to perform various treatments and procedures safely and efficiently, conduct CLIA waived testing, and actively participate in patient education. You must maintain up-to-date knowledge of front desk procedures and help optimize patient flow by assisting with scheduling and paperwork. This role requires excellent communication skills to coordinate with providers, nursing, pharmacy, and other healthcare team members while protecting patient confidentiality.

Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing patients and medical equipment for procedures, conducting medical screenings, documenting results accurately, and promptly notifying licensed staff or medical providers of any concerns. Proper maintenance of equipment and appropriate use of patient-related computer applications are critical aspects of daily duties. Under supervision, you will perform minor treatments and must participate in resource management by monitoring inventories and restocking supplies. Your role also includes attending meetings, training sessions, and contributing to organizational performance improvements.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of certificate program for Medical Assistants
  • Minimum one year experience as Medical Assistant
  • Current BLS certification prior to orientation
  • Willingness to travel between multiple clinic locations
  • Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Availability to work variable and late-night schedules including last minute changes
  • Ability to deliver competent age-specific care across multiple specialties
  • Ability to perform treatment procedures and CLIA waived testing
  • Ability to work sensitively within the Indian Community
  • Ability to perform physically demanding duties including standing walking bending lifting and assisting frail patients
  • Willingness to work evenings weekends as needed
  • Adherence to uniform dress code and professional conduct

Job Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant certificate documentation of diploma or certificate required
  • One year full-time Medical Assistant experience in relevant role or specialty
  • Basic computer skills Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of electronic health record systems
  • Current BLS certification compliant with American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Valid California driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary medical teams
  • Sensitivity to Indian culture and community needs
  • Ability to work variable schedules

Job Duties

  • Deliver competent age-specific care to patients in an ambulatory primary care setting including treatments procedures waived testing and patient education
  • Exhibit a professional manner by communicating effectively with employees medical providers and patients families maintaining confidentiality
  • Contribute to efficient patient flow by maintaining knowledge of front-desk procedures scheduling patients and completing paperwork
  • Participate in visit planning activities to improve health maintenance compliance and customer satisfaction
  • Prepare patients and equipment supplies for various procedures
  • Demonstrate expertise in patient screening document screening test results and notify licensed staff or providers of abnormal results
  • Perform minor treatments and procedures under supervision within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
  • Monitor supply and material inventories reorder and restock as directed
  • Assist in maintaining accurate tracking logs and health maintenance records
  • Attend meetings and training sessions participate in performance improvement activities
  • Float to various clinics within the system to provide staff coverage as assigned
