With a strong emphasis on professional development and employee well-being, Roper St. Francis Healthcare is a leader in employment benefits and opportunities in the medical field.

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) role at Roper St. Francis Healthcare is a critical position within the clinical care team. This full-time Monday through Friday role involves shifting between assigned locations to support patient care, including the Berkeley Medical Office Building and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital. The CMA is a multi-skilled clinical professional responsible for both direct and indirect patient care within the defined scope of practice. Under provider supervision, the CMA performs essential functions such as collecting patient vital signs, documenting patient information, assisting with care planning, and administering medications in accordance with state guidelines and practice standards. The CMA plays a vital role in ensuring the clinical environment is safe, efficient, and well-equipped for patient visits.

Additionally, this position requires flexibility in scheduling and occasionally traveling to other facilities to meet patient care demands or adjusting hours as directed. A key aspect of the role includes facilitating virtual health visits, supporting patients and providers by setting up telehealth appointments and managing technical issues. CMAs are also responsible for maintaining accurate electronic medical records (EMR), managing in-basket messages under provider instruction, and assisting with various front desk tasks like scheduling and patient registration when needed.

Working as a Certified Medical Assistant at Roper St. Francis Healthcare offers a well-rounded clinical experience, engaging with a diverse patient population that includes adults and geriatrics, while operating in a dynamic clinical setting. The organization values strong communication skills, teamwork, attention to detail, and adaptability in its clinical staff. CMAs must ensure compliance with legal and safety standards, including infection control and the use of personal protective equipment. This role requires physical stamina for standing, lifting, and assisting patients, as well as mental resilience to handle high-stress periods and fluctuating workloads.

Those joining Roper St. Francis Healthcare will find support through competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth. The healthcare system emphasizes ongoing education, offering tuition assistance and continuing education support. The employer is committed to equal opportunity employment and nurtures an inclusive culture where diversity is respected and supported.
