The role offered is an integral position within Baptist Health's clinical team, working directly under the clinical supervision of practice physicians and clinic supervisors or managers. The position involves assisting physicians in examining and treating patients, preparing and rooming patients, recording vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, oxygen levels, pain levels, weight, and height, and accurately documenting information in patient charts or Electronic Medical Records (EMR). The role also includes collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis. The position offers an estimated pay range of $21.24 to $27.61 per hour, depending on experience. Job Requirements

  • Must possess at least one required license or certification (MA, CNA, LPN, EMT, Paramedic)
  • BLS certification required
  • CNA, LPN, EMT licenses must be from Florida
  • Ability to work efficiently in high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in computer applications and typing skills
  • HIPAA and OSHA compliance
  • Must be professional, organized, detail-oriented team player
  • Medical Assistants hired after 7/1/16 must obtain Medical Assistant Certification within 6 months
  • For primary care practices, EKG and Phlebotomy certifications required for CNAs
  • Foreign Medical Doctor diploma holders not eligible for Medical Assistant role after 11/3/17
  • Minimum 1 year of applicable experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Licensed Practical Nurse or Paramedic
  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant
  • Emergency Medical Technician
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Registered Medical Assistant
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Compassionate demeanor and excellent customer service abilities
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Knowledge of Health Care regulatory guidelines and Medical Terminology is a plus
  • Bilingual skills preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist physicians during patient examinations and treatments
  • Room patients and obtain patient information
  • Measure and record vital signs including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, pain level, weight, and height
  • Document patient information accurately in patient charts or Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members
