The Media Services Coordinator position at California Lutheran University offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the university’s technology and media support services. Reporting to the Director of Instructional Technology, this non-exempt staff role plays a vital part in supporting academic and campus events through the coordination and maintenance of media services and computer-based multimedia equipment. This position is based on campus in Thousand Oaks, offering a dynamic work environment that blends technical expertise with customer service. The hiring range for this position is $26 to $29 per hour.

The coordinator is responsible for delivering media support to faculty, staff, students, and external users who rent university facilities. Duties include managing media equipment requests, delivering and retrieving media devices, coordinating repairs, and developing procedures to ensure efficient scheduling, retrieval, and inventory management of all media and related equipment. Additionally, the role involves training and supervising student workers, supporting smart classrooms, and providing technical assistance for audio-visual setups during lectures, concerts, and special events. The coordinator also ensures compliance with university, state, and federal guidelines when duplicating instructional media.

This role demands a broad knowledge of audio/visual technologies, including operation and maintenance of computers, LCD projectors, audio mixers, video switchers, digital cameras, and Extron control systems. The coordinator is expected to troubleshoot and repair complex multimedia systems, provide support during high-pressure situations, and maintain accurate records for equipment repairs and inventory. The ability to stay current with emerging technologies and adapt them for use in instructional settings is critical to success in this role.

The Media Services Coordinator must be capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines, and maintaining excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Physical requirements include lifting equipment, climbing ladders, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes under challenging conditions. This position requires availability to work weekend and evening hours as needed, especially during special campus events.

Candidates for this role should possess at least two years of experience in audio/visual staging or related fields, preferably in educational or nonprofit settings. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. A valid California driver's license is necessary due to the driving responsibilities involved in the job. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to provide exceptional customer service while effectively coordinating various technical projects involving faculty, staff, and external clients. Job Qualifications
