Job Description
Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies (RTX), is recognized globally as a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defense industries. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio dedicated to solving the most challenging aerospace demands with an emphasis on innovation, safety, and cost efficiency. Headquartered in the United States, Collins Aerospace serves a global customer base through its offices and manufacturing facilities in over 12 U.S. states and more than 10 countries worldwide. The company is committed to delivering products and services that enhance air travel comfort, security, and connectivity, particularly through their Interiors division which focuses on aviation interior products and services. This division aims to innovate the aircraft interiors industry, improving passenger experiences in collaboration with airlines and original equipment manufacturers.
The Mechanical Assembler I role at Collins Aerospace, located onsite in Everett, Washington, is a crucial position within the production operations team. This role involves performing a wide variety of mechanical production sub-assembly and assembly operations that are semi-skilled in nature, contributing to the assembly of complex and difficult units. The assembler determines methods and sequences of assembly tasks often without complete instructions, relying on shop and production operation sheets, blueprints, schematics, and verbal guidance. Using a range of small hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and hammers, this role requires meticulous attention to detail to identify and select components for integration into sub-assemblies and assembly units. The assembler is responsible for making precise setups, alignments, and adjustments while maintaining tolerance levels to ensure product quality and performance.
In addition to assembly tasks, the Mechanical Assembler I may disassemble, modify, rework, refurbish, and reassemble units as required, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills. This role can also include providing leadership to lower-level assemblers by assigning tasks, reviewing progress, and monitoring results. The position emphasizes adherence to safety protocols, regulatory, and company standards, thereby ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
Candidates for this position must meet citizenship requirements as per U.S. regulations, being U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or protected individuals per applicable laws. There is no security clearance required for this position. The hourly wage range is from $20.23 to $33.11, with considerations given to experience, education, and skill level. Collins Aerospace offers a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, three weeks of paid vacation for new employees, a generous 401(k) plan with employer contributions, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other valuable programs aimed at supporting employees and their families.
Joining Collins Aerospace means becoming part of a forward-thinking company dedicated to innovation and excellence in aerospace. The company fosters a collaborative and supportive work culture that emphasizes continuous learning and career growth. Employees can expect to make a tangible impact on the aerospace industry through their roles, contributing directly to products that affect air travel safety and performance. This position requires the physical ability to work in cramped spaces and maintain various working postures for extended periods, reflecting the hands-on nature of the job.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who is passionate about quality, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team. Collins Aerospace values diversity and equality in hiring, offering equal employment opportunities and affirmative action for individuals with disabilities and protected veterans. Applicants should be prepared for parts of the hiring process to potentially take place in person, aligning with company guidelines to maintain a secure and thorough hiring process. Overall, the Mechanical Assembler I role at Collins Aerospace represents a chance to build a rewarding career in the aerospace sector with a reputable company known for its advanced technological solutions and commitment to employee development.
