Job Requirements

  • Ability to represent and support Big Y’s culture of caring while living our mission and vision
  • Supports Big Y’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
  • Must be proficient in ordering for the entire sales areas of both the meat and seafood departments
  • Must project a clean and professional appearance
  • Ability to operate within company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Willingness to cross train and learn other areas as needed
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in accordance with the needs of the store
  • Must have completed Meat/Seafood Butcher and Culinary Training Program and/or passed a meat skills test
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Job Qualifications

  • Proficient in ordering for meat and seafood sales areas
  • Completed Meat/Seafood Butcher and Culinary Training Program or passed a meat skills test
  • Able to project a clean and professional appearance
  • Supportive of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
  • Good customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Provide precise and high-quality cuts of meat and seafood
  • Maintain department conditions including ordering, inventory, and food safety standards
  • Ensure the freshest quality product is available for customers
  • Offer product knowledge and expertise to customers
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the workplace
  • Operate according to company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Participate in cross-training and learn other areas as needed
