Job Description
Our client is a reputable company specializing in meat and poultry processing, located in the industrial area of Northwood, OH. The company operates in a cold environment dedicated to meat packing and fulfillment, ensuring that fresh products reach customers efficiently and safely. The facility maintains a temperature of 32 degrees to preserve product quality and safety. It is a dynamic production environment where safety, efficiency, and accuracy are prioritized. The company adheres to rigorous standards for quality assurance and operational excellence, making it a leading employer in the meat processing industry in the region.
The role available is for a Meat/Poultry Packer I, a temporary contract position designed for individuals skilled in handling meat packing machines and associated tasks. The role requires working in a cold environment and handling a variety of tasks centered on the conversion of raw materials into finished food products ready for distribution. This position involves the use of mechanical packing machines where the contractor scoops meat into pouches, operates automatic packing equipment, boxes products, and uses scan guns to track orders and inventory efficiently. Safety equipment, including steel toe shoes or boots, is mandatory from day one to ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations.
As a Meat/Poultry Packer I, you will be responsible for general production and manufacturing duties focused primarily on assembling finished components or parts into complete products. You will engage in processing manufacturing batches of bulk materials or ingredients employing mechanical processes such as mixing, grinding, separating, and filtering. The packing process requires accuracy and attention to detail to maintain the integrity of the products during packaging, which involves placing materials and finished goods into containers designed for protection, display, and ease of handling.
This position calls for a high level of commitment to product quality with the ability to quickly perform quality assurance checks for the product and weight according to company standards. Basic mathematical skills and computer literacy are essential to effectively manage the order processing through packaging equipment as per instructions indicated on order tickets. Experience up to three years in a similar setting is preferred but not mandatory, as long as the candidate demonstrates the essential skills and capability to learn quickly.
The Meat/Poultry Packer I role not only demands attention to detail and compliance with safety protocols but also a strong teamwork ethic, as one will collaborate with other team members to meet daily production targets within specific time frames. This is an excellent employment opportunity for individuals seeking temporary work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment specializing in meat and poultry processing. The contract nature of the position allows for flexibility with potential for future opportunities based on performance and operational needs.
