This role focuses specifically on managing the Meat Department, a crucial segment that contributes significantly to the store's overall sales and customer satisfaction. As a Meat Department Manager, the individual will assume responsibility for creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and leadership. This includes maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that encourages customers to return repeatedly. The manager will oversee all functions, duties, and activities related to the Meat Department, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards and achieving the department’s sales and profit goals.

Key duties include supervising and developing a team of associates, promoting respect and trust among the workforce, and facilitating positive communication to meet departmental performance targets. The role demands hands-on involvement in scheduling, training, inventory control, merchandising, pricing, and implementing promotional activities in partnership with store management. Additionally, the manager will ensure adherence to food safety protocols, company policies, and relevant local, state, and federal regulations.

The Meat Department Manager is also tasked with operational planning, budgeting, and taking action on financial reports to optimize department profitability. Job Duties

  • Promote trust and respect among associates with a positive attitude
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates
  • Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through teamwork
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume
  • Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
  • Review and inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action
