Reporting directly to the Assistant Meat Manager or Meat Manager, the Meat Wrapper is essential in ensuring that all meat products are accurately weighed, wrapped, labeled, and presented in a clean and attractive manner, reflecting the high standards of the store. The position requires adherence to stringent food handling and safety protocols, maintaining sanitation, and ensuring freshness of the meat products handled.

As a Meat Wrapper, the successful candidate will engage directly with store guests, assisting them with their meat orders and providing knowledgeable recommendations about various meat cuts and department-specific specials. The role demands physical stamina as it involves frequent movements such as lifting, bending, standing, and walking within an environment that experiences wide temperature variations. Employees are expected to handle equipment safely, including slicers, utility knives, and forklifts if properly certified. Job Duties

  • Consistently demonstrate the Woods Supermarket d>e service and hospitality 4 guidelines
  • adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company standards
  • notify management of guest or teammate accidents or injuries
  • report all safety risks and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud
  • be respectful, courteous, and helpful to other teammates
  • stay current with all ads
  • understand the store’s layout and be able to take guests to products
  • follow proper food handling and safety protocols
  • ensure proper sanitation of department and equipment
  • follow all technical manuals for processing of products, including label placement and packaging
  • update displays, cases, and other guest-facing areas to ensure new items and promotions are showcased
  • prep, store, rotate and stock merchandise
  • prepare items per guest requests using proper equipment
  • inform guests of department specific specials and make recommendations when asked
  • provide guests with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size (or as close as possible to the amount ordered) to prevent shrink
  • use all equipment in the department according to company guidelines
  • adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise
  • check product quality to ensure freshness
  • review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action
  • report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions note any discrepancies in inventory
  • ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained
  • follow all food safety guidelines
  • identify various cuts of meat
  • weigh, wrap, and package products in a clean, neat, and attractive package
  • assist guests at the counter or on sales floor
