The Meat Team Member role at Whole Foods Market is a customer-focused position essential to maintaining the quality and presentation of the meat department. This role involves a diverse array of responsibilities including counter service, stocking, and sanitation within the meat section. Team Members are required to handle food safety practices meticulously, maintain accurate product pricing and signage, and proactively promote sales through suggestive selling techniques. The role also demands a flexible approach to scheduling, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands involve lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing and walking, and the safe use of tools and machinery such as box cutters and electric pallet jacks.

Job Requirements
- no prior retail experience required
- must be able to lift 50 pounds
- ability to stand or walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour shift
- ability to use single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- capable of bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and cold environments
- ability to safely handle knives and cutting equipment
- flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- ability to use tools and equipment including box cutters and electric pallet jacks

Job Duties
- ensure fresh and appealing display by checking quality, cleaning cases and shelves, stocking, rotating and removing out-of-date products, and filling ice tables
- maintain back stock in good order
- assist with sampling program, keeping areas full, clean and appealing
- clean cases, glass, signs, coolers, smokers, floors and drains
- arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed and dressed, work scheduled shifts and attend trainings and meetings
- provide excellent customer service, address customer needs promptly and use suggestive selling techniques, answer phones and pages courteously
- maximize sales potential through correct prepping, storing, rotating, stocking and merchandising of products
- follow procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- maintain clean and sanitary working and shopping environment, maintain equipment according to cleanliness and safety standards
- perform opening, mid and closing duties and ensure accuracy of signs and pricing
- report safety hazards and violations immediately
- perform other duties assigned by leadership
