The role of Manager, Meat & Seafood at Fresco y Mas is a pivotal leadership position responsible for managing the daily operations of the meat and seafood departments. This position requires a strong blend of hands-on physical labor, delegation, team leadership, meticulous planning, and administrative tasks. The manager is charged with ensuring customer satisfaction by maintaining high standards of product freshness, availability, and quality. They execute merchandising plans outlined in department planners and event toolkits, train and coach meat cutters on cutting standards, trimming specifications, product handling, and safety protocols. The role demands keen attention to fresh meat cutting standards, tray weights, ground beef processing, and maintaining production logs. This position carries responsibility for maintaining core assortment mixes and executing meat case flow-grams to optimize inventory and product display.
As a working manager, the Meat & Seafood Manager balances behind-the-scenes administrative duties with active participation in department tasks. They promote a customer-friendly environment, ensuring courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service while inspiring and managing their team effectively. The manager also acts as the subject matter expert on meat and seafood products, collaborating with store leadership in hiring and performance management. A strong emphasis is placed on compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including food safety practices, USDA and Country of Origin Labeling requirements, and environmental health and safety standards.
The role requires a commitment to continuous improvement and employee development, fostering teamwork, trust, and respect amongst associates. The manager tracks key performance indicators such as department customer satisfaction (OSAT), sales to purchase percentage, and production planning compliance to ensure the department's profitability and efficiency. Additionally, they oversee financial responsibilities including daily administrative tasks, inventory control, pricing changes, shrink reduction, and merchandising to meet sales goals and community needs.

This role offers varied shifts including three to four evening prime-time shifts weekly and occasional travel, providing opportunities for growth and leadership in a rewarding work environment.

Job Qualifications

- 3-6 years of supervisory experience in meat or seafood departments

- proficiency with computer applications used in department operations
- possession or ability to obtain Food Safety Certification within 180 days
