The company operates various stores that emphasize ethnic and cultural foods tailored to meet the needs of the communities it serves.\n\nThe position of Manager, Meat & Seafood at Fresco y Mas involves managing the day-to-day operations of the meat and seafood departments, ensuring the delivery of fresh, appealing products along with courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service to customers. This role is vital to increasing customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent, compliant operating conditions. The manager is responsible for executing merchandising plans, maintaining fresh meat cutting standards, controlling inventory, reducing shrink through efficient production planning, and ensuring excellent product presentation and case flow.\n\nThis role requires a balance of physical labor, delegation, team building, leadership, planning, and administrative work. The Meat & Seafood Manager will be the subject matter expert for their departments, teaching, coaching, and training meat cutters on standards and specifications. They will foster collaboration and communication with store leadership regarding hiring, associate performance, and department goals. The position demands adherence to all food safety and regulatory standards, including USDA and Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) compliance.\n\nKey responsibilities include creating an inviting environment for customers, managing the department to meet daily and weekly administrative tasks, maintaining profitability through accurate forecasting and ordering, and cultivating a culture of safety among the staff. The manager will oversee inventory management, quality control, production planning compliance, safety programs, and documentation such as temperature logs. They are expected to engage with customers by assisting them in locating products or suggesting alternatives while ensuring special orders are fulfilled promptly.\n\nWith an emphasis on diversity and inclusion, Fresco y Mas values the backgrounds and experiences of its team members, encouraging an environment of respect, trust, and professional growth. The role offers varied shifts, including 3 to 4 evening prime time shifts weekly, and occasional travel is required, but no overnight stays. The ability to perform physical tasks, handle stressful situations, and maintain food safety certifications is essential to success in this role.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain same
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check
  • Possess adequate knife handling skills and knife speed
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 70 lbs and pulling up to 250 lbs

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3 to 6 years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to speak English
  • Spanish language skills preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, and labeling
  • Proficient with computer applications for department operations
  • Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days

Job Duties

  • Manage daily operations of meat and seafood departments
