Our company operates a facility located at the Chicago Stock Yards in Aurora, Illinois, specializing in meat processing and distribution. We are seeking dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our team with a focus on meat processing roles. This full-time position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule, with overtime and Saturdays as needed, providing flexibility for employees who are eager to contribute extra hours. The role requires working in refrigerated and freezer environments, ranging from 35°F to as low as -10°F, with company-provided apparel for safety and comfort. Candidates should be physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, standing, bending, and manipulating various tools and materials.
The meat processing role involves preparing meat products to feed production lines or prepare for subsequent processing stages. Workers will use specialized tools and materials to process and package meat products within planned schedules, ensuring all products meet company standards and customer specifications. Maintaining visual inspections for quality and safety is essential, along with following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements meticulously. In addition to production duties, team members assist in keeping their work areas clean and orderly to uphold a safe and efficient workplace.
Candidates with experience in production, warehouse, food processing, manufacturing, or food service warehouse environments will find this role aligned with their skills. We value applicants who can work diligently in cold environments and are willing to undertake overtime shifts when necessary. Education-wise, a high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with basic reading, writing, and math skills to manage daily responsibilities effectively.
Compensation for this position is competitive, with a base hourly rate ranging from $20.00 to $20.75 depending on experience, education, and skill set. Eligible workers will also receive overtime pay as applicable by law. Job Requirements
- Must be able to work continually in a refrigerated environment 35°F-45°F
- Must be able to work for periods of time in a freezer environment -10°F to +10°F with company provided apparel
- Able to work overtime with or without notice
- Must be physically able to perform lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching above shoulder, grasping and manipulating objects
- Must be able to stand continuously and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
- Must be able to complete miscellaneous duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED preferred
- Basic reading, writing and math skills
- Experience in production, warehouse, food processing, manufacturing, food production or food service warehouse environments preferred
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to perform product receiving and selection, packaging, sorting, re-boxing, marination, further processing and facility sanitation
- Adherence to company manufacturing requirements and safety regulations
Job Duties
- Work in a fast-paced environment preparing meat products to feed lines and/or prepare for the next stage of processing
- Effectively utilize tools, processes, and materials to process and package meat products within planned schedules
- Follow all food safety requirements and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Perform visual inspection of meat products to meet certain specifications
- Meet company standards and customer specifications
- Assist in cleanliness of general work area
