Job Description
BJ's Wholesale Club is a leading membership-only warehouse club operator based in the United States, known for providing high-quality products at exceptional value to its members. With a team of over 30,000 dedicated employees, BJ's Wholesale Club plays a significant role in helping families and businesses save money on essential goods, ranging from groceries and fresh produce to electronics and home goods. Its business model focuses on offering exclusive memberships, which grant access to bulk purchases, discounted rates, and unique services that meet the diverse needs of its customers. BJ's Wholesale Club emphasizes a culture of purpose and opportunity, where team members are empowered to contribute meaningfully to the company's mission and growth. The company takes pride in fostering an inclusive environment where ethical behavior, teamwork, and customer service excellence are paramount.
The Meat Lead role at BJ's Wholesale Club is a vital position responsible for overseeing the operations within the meat department. This role ensures that the preparation, cutting, packaging, and merchandising of fresh meat products align with stringent food safety standards and company policies. While this role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, the Meat Lead plays a critical part in supporting operational execution and enhancing the member experience by maintaining high product quality and adhering to club standards. The position requires a valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification, with BJ's Wholesale Club covering associated training costs.
The Meat Lead works to uphold BJ's GOLD Member Standards which focus on delivering exemplary service behaviors such as greeting members warmly, anticipating their needs, appreciating their patronage, and maintaining product freshness and cleanliness throughout the club. Key responsibilities include managing inventory levels proactively, ensuring accurate labeling and pricing of items, analyzing sales and production data to identify opportunities for improvement, and maintaining sanitation and safety compliance in line with both company and regulatory guidelines. This role is integral to supporting seasonal promotions, inventory audits, and shrink control initiatives.
The Meat Lead position offers comprehensive benefits designed to support employees' health, well-being, and financial security both on and off the job. Benefits include weekly pay for effective financial management, free BJ's memberships including a supplemental household membership, generous paid time off covering various leave types, flexible and affordable health care options including medical, dental, vision, and health savings accounts, a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match, and an employee stock purchase plan that allows staff to buy BJ's common stock at a discount.
This role involves physical demands such as frequent standing, lifting up to 30 pounds, operating meat-cutting equipment safely, and exposure to refrigerated conditions. BJ's Wholesale Club is committed to providing a safe and supportive work environment and encourages applications from individuals who demonstrate a positive, solution-oriented mindset and a passion for delivering a premium member experience. The starting pay for this role is $22.00 per hour, with actual salaries varying based on location, experience, education, and qualifications. BJ's Wholesale Club embraces authenticity in applications and values genuine skills and insights over AI-generated content.
