The role of Meat Department Lead at Sam's Club is a critical leadership position responsible for driving sales and overseeing a team within the meat department. This position requires someone who can not only supervise and motivate hourly associates to meet business goals but also serve as a meat expert who understands product specifications, safety regulations, and operational standards. The Meat Department Lead will collaborate with other team leaders to ensure the overall club meets member expectations by delivering quality products and excellent customer service.

This full-time position offers an hourly wage range of $23.00 to $31.00, with potential additional premiums based on factors such as schedule and specific work performed. The role emphasizes the importance of leadership, expertise in meat product handling, and leveraging technology to enhance sales and operational efficiency. The Meat Department Lead will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant department environment, managing inventory and ordering, and ensuring associates receive proper training and development opportunities. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • minimum 6 months experience in a meat production department or 6 months experience supervising a team
  • successful completion of all job-required trainings and assessments within the prescribed time frame
  • legal authorization to work in the United States
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • adherence to company drug-free workplace policy

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 6 months experience in a meat production department or supervising a team
  • knowledge of meat processing including boneless and bone-in products preferred
  • food handler certification preferred
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to engage and motivate team members
  • proficiency in using digital tools for operational purposes
  • commitment to maintaining safety, sanitation, and compliance standards
  • ability to train and develop associates

Job Duties

  • Supervise the team within the meat department to deliver on the business plan and contribute to the club’s success
  • maintain knowledge of floor operations, backroom processes, product updates, and specifications
