Job Description

US Foods is one of America\'s leading foodservice distributors, dedicated to serving chefs and foodservice operators across the country with quality products and exceptional service. With a history spanning over 120 years, the company is renowned for its commitment to excellence in providing expertly cut and portioned beef and pork, meeting rigorous quality standards and customer specifications. US Foods\' Stock Yards facility continues this tradition by maintaining a wide assortment of meat products, catering to a diverse range of dining establishments from fine dining to casual family restaurants. The company emphasizes safety, quality, and customer satisfaction in all aspects of its operations.

The Stock Yards Meat Cutter role is a crucial position within US Foods, responsible for preparing high-quality cuts of meat that meet precise customer specifications. Working within a production environment, the meat cutter ensures the accuracy of portion sizes and the quality of trimming according to company standards. The role requires expertise in handling knives and specialized meat production equipment such as band saws and laser portion machinery. Precision, speed, and adherence to safety protocols are vital to success in this role, as is the ability to work efficiently in a refrigerated setting.

This position operates on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, at the Stock Yards facility. The work environment involves consistent exposure to refrigerated temperatures ranging from 35°F to 45°F, requiring individuals who are physically capable of handling the demands of the job, including frequent lifting, standing, and manual dexterity activities.

Candidates for this role should have at least one year of experience as a meat cutter, demonstrating proficiency in specialty meat cutting with knives. Familiarity with poultry, beef, lamb, and pork products, including USDA grading and standards, is essential. Knowledge of NAMA guidelines and experience with various meat production tools are preferred but not mandatory. The company values employees who can read and interpret customer cut tickets accurately, maintain cleanliness in the cutting area, and contribute to the company\'s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Compensation for this Meat Cutter role depends on experience, education, geographic location, and specific skills, with an expected base rate ranging from $15.15 to $20.88 per hour. Opportunities for overtime compensation are available as needed. US Foods offers a comprehensive benefits package, which may include health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance. These benefits reflect the company\'s commitment to supporting the health, well-being, and financial security of its team members. US Foods fosters an inclusive workplace, welcoming applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities, and is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to non-discrimination in all hiring practices.
