The Meat Cutter role based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a critical position within the SpartanNash retail environment. This position is responsible for expertly cutting meats into various cuts and preparing related products according to company and department standards, ensuring the highest quality and customer satisfaction. The role supports the store’s financial objectives by contributing to efficient, careful, and precise meat cutting and product preparation. Responsibilities include cutting and weighing steaks and chops, producing value-added products, trimming and boning carcass sections, grinding and making sausage according to established recipes, pricing and wrapping meat products, shelving and merchandising, and maintaining cleanliness and safety compliance. This position requires an individual who is detail oriented, possesses basic mathematical skills, and has the ability to comprehend and interpret documents relevant to their tasks. Physical demands include frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and exposure to varying temperatures and typical retail environment noise levels. Job Duties
- Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings
- Produce value-added products per established guidelines
- Cut, trim, and bone carcass sections or prime cuts to reduce to cooking cuts
- Follow established recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage and other products
- Price, date, wrap and/or bag meat products per established guidelines using department scales
- Properly fill, rotate and merchandise shelves, cases and displays
- Notify the manager if products and supplies need to be ordered
- Receive, unload, and stock merchandise
- Have familiarity with all products carried in the department
- practice suggestive selling techniques with customers
- Maintain a clean, attractive and well stocked department
- Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines
- Follow all Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations
- Follow Guest Experience Guidelines
- May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience need
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed
