The Head Start Nutrition Roving Family Style Food Service position (Meal Time Aide) is a vital role within PPS's Head Start programs, which focus on early childhood education and developmental support for young children. This position involves assisting in the preparation and service of family-style meals in Head Start classrooms at various school locations including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Faubion, and Creston Annex schools. The work schedule is part-time with shifts between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, ranging from 3 to 4 hours per day, with assignments made by 9:00 am. This position is on an on-call basis with up to 15 hours per week and runs through the school year ending June 9, 2026. The pay rate is $16.30 per hour.

The role of the Meal Time Aide is to ensure that students receive nutritious, safe, and well-prepared family-style meals in a sanitized and welcoming environment. Responsibilities include meal preparation, safe food handling, maintaining cleanliness, and collaborating closely with classroom teams and program staff to support the smooth operation of meal service within Head Start classrooms. The position demands the ability to multi-task efficiently, work quickly following both written and verbal directions, and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 30 pounds and moving food carts.
