The current opening is for a Receptionist role within the healthcare facility. This position serves as a crucial link between patients and healthcare providers, responsible for greeting and assisting patients and their families upon arrival. The receptionist manages appointment scheduling to best meet the patients' needs, ensuring a seamless, coordinated experience. One of the key responsibilities includes assisting patients in selecting a primary care clinician to promote continuity of care, a core principle at Roper St. Francis Healthcare.

Beyond patient interaction, the receptionist handles a diverse range of administrative and clerical duties such as managing prescription requests, processing referrals with other physicians, and ensuring insurance referrals are accurately made when necessary. This position operates on a rotating schedule from Sunday to Saturday, 8 AM to 8 PM, including rotating weekends, offering a robust work-life balance. The work environment requires interaction with a diverse patient population, from infants to elderly patients, and involves standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.   • At least one year experience in a medical office strongly preferred
  • Ability to work as part of a clinical team

  • Ability to problem solve and show good judgment
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to use Practice Management and Electronic Health Record systems proficiently
  • Ability to balance charges and payments at the end of day
  • Ability to lift or move items up to 50 lbs
  • Corrected hearing and vision to normal range
  • Availability to work rotating weekends and variable schedules

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Greet, instruct, direct and schedule patients and family members
  • Work with patients to schedule appointments that best meet their needs
  • Assist patients with selection of a primary care clinician emphasizing continuity of care
  • Handle prescription requests and medical chart information accurately
  • Schedule referrals with other physician offices ensuring insurance referrals are made if required
  • Answer telephone calls and direct them to appropriate parties
  • Collect copayments and deductibles and accurately post charges and payments
  • Balance daily financial transactions and prepare deposits
  • Coordinate care with other team members to provide exceptional patient service
