Job Description
The City of Temple is a vibrant and growing community dedicated to providing exceptional public services and facilities to its residents and visitors. Among its various public amenities, the Mayborn Convention Center stands out as a premier venue for hosting a wide variety of events, including conferences, banquets, and community gatherings. The Convention Center prides itself on delivering outstanding experiences through exceptional service standards and a well-maintained environment. It is managed by the city government, emphasizing hospitality excellence and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
The City of Temple is currently seeking motivated and service-oriented individuals to join the team as part-time Bartenders/Servers at the Mayborn Convention Center. This role provides an excellent opportunity for those interested in hospitality and event service careers. The position is directly tied to the Convention Events Calendar, requiring flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Bartenders/Servers play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of beverage service throughout various events by delivering professional and courteous service to all attendees.
As a Bartender/Server with the City of Temple, you will be responsible for providing outstanding beverage service, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, while adhering strictly to Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) standards. You will be expected to have knowledge of food and alcohol products, preparation methods, proper terminology, and service techniques to help enhance the guest experience. Additionally, the role requires handling financial transactions accurately, including accepting payments and balancing cash drawers daily, in line with city and convention center financial policies.
Your duties will extend beyond beverage preparation and service; ensuring cleanliness and organization of serving and bar areas, managing inventory control of stock levels, and assisting management with pre-event and post-event inventory tasks and other operational duties. Besides technical skills, excellent customer service skills are paramount, as you will interact directly with guests, providing a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor at all times.
To be successful in this role, candidates should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of experience providing similar food and beverage services. Preferred candidates may also have prior experience working in private clubs, which adds to their familiarity with high standards of hospitality service. Certification requirements include possessing a valid driver's license, Texas Food Handler's Certification, and TABC Certification or the ability to obtain these certifications within two weeks of employment.
This part-time position offers individuals the chance to gain meaningful work experience in food and beverage service, develop professional skills, and contribute to the community by supporting the City's events and hospitality programs. Employees will be a part of a dedicated team that values quality service, teamwork, and community engagement. If you are passionate about providing excellent guest experiences and working in a dynamic event setting, the Bartender/Server position at the Mayborn Convention Center is an excellent career opportunity worth exploring.
