The Junto is a distinctive hotel that captures the spirit of Ben Franklin's original club, which was dedicated to mutual improvement and bringing together people from all walks of life to exchange ideas and discuss the pressing issues of the day. Located in Columbus, The Junto aims to serve as both a landmark and a destination that enriches the community by creating vibrant public gathering spaces. It welcomes locals, visitors, entrepreneurs, and artists, offering an inspiring venue to connect, collaborate, and foster creativity and innovation. The hotel’s philosophy embraces the values of communication, community, and cultural engagement, making it a unique establishment in the hospitality industry.
Within this dynamic environment, The Junto is seeking a passionate and skilled Lead Barista who thrives in crafting exceptional coffee and beverage experiences. This role is perfect for a coffee expert who values quality, customer service, and the art of brewing. The Lead Barista will be responsible for preparing a wide array of high-quality drinks, educating guests about the menu, and offering personalized recommendations to enhance their experience. The position requires a deep knowledge of coffee, tea, and other specialty beverages, mastery over brewing equipment, and the ability to maintain the ambiance and operational standards that The Junto is known for.
More than just a barista, the Lead Barista at The Junto takes on a leadership role within the café team. They assist with inventory management, ensuring the café remains well-stocked and ready to serve customers at all times. Operating within established standards, the Lead Barista plays a critical role in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and an inviting atmosphere that aligns with the brand’s high standards. The role also involves managing employee discounts, coordinating cleaning and side work, restocking grab-and-go items, and supporting the development of specialty beverages, including recipe creation and pricing strategies.
In addition to operational duties, the Lead Barista supports the daily leadership of the coffee shop by serving as the acting lead in the absence of the Coffee Shop Supervisor, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations. Training and mentoring new team members is a key responsibility, helping uphold consistent service, quality, and operational excellence across the café team. This position demands a proactive and professional demeanor, with a thoughtful approach to both team management and guest interaction.
As part of the Makeready collection, The Junto offers an impressive benefits package to eligible team members, reflecting its commitment to the health, happiness, and well-being of its staff. Benefits include accommodating paid time off, medical, dental and vision insurance, maternity and paternity leave, pet insurance, company-matched dependent care and 401(k) plans, a student loan repayment program, and various other ancillary benefits that support a balanced and fulfilling work life.
The Junto embraces guiding principles that shape how its team members work together, not out of obligation but as a natural expression of the company’s values. The organization is deeply committed to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment where every employee can thrive and contribute as their authentic self.
